ACCOMPLISHING GOALS

MEMORISE: ‘For his anger endureth but a moment; In his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. ‘ (Ps 30:5)
READ: 1 Samuel 17:16, 22-30

Goliath of Gath inflicted terror on Israel for 40 days until God raised up David to silence him forever. What situation are you going through presently? How long has that problem endured and caused you pain? It shall not last in Jesus’ Name. ‘For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning’ (Ps 30:5).

When Daniel fell into the trap of his enemies and was thrown into the lions’ den in Daniel 6, they rejoiced and threw a party. But the following morning they became food for the lions. Are your enemies rejoicing over your present plight? Never mind. That joy will soon trigger off their eternal silence.

To reach your goal, pass on without losing sight of your destination as a result of distraction. One such distraction is jealously. The Song of Solomon 8:6 says: ‘… jealousy is cruel as the grave…’ This implies that a jealous person is capable of murder. When you see someone else doing better than you, you should not become jealous. Rather, rejoice with him and pray for his continued success, while you ask God not to forget you. Whishing him evil may amount to destroying yourself due to the law of harvest.

Jesus said: ‘ “And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household”’ (Matt 10:36). Eliab, David’s elder brother was envious of David because God chose David in his stead to be king. Then he began to reproach David to see if he could rob him of one of his greatest victories in life. But David ignored him and focused on his goal.

If you are to accomplish your God-given goals, you must not be offended or distracted by criticism. To work for God, do not listen to what people are saying, not even their praise. Push them out of your way and look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (Heb 12:2), and you will reach your goal. By God’s divine strength, you will reach your goal in Jesus’ Name. Just ensure that you stay focused.

ACTION POINT
Are you jealous of anyone? Determine why and begin to thank God
and pray for that person to be more successful. You will reap the same.
