Jer 1 - 2
HEARING
GOD
MEMORISE:
‘Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which
thou hast broken may rejoice’. ( Ps 51:8)
READ:
1 Samuel 3: 8- 10
‘Also I heard the voice of the LORD, saying, whom shall
I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send
me’ (Isa 6:8).
When
you enter God’s presence, you are assured of hearing his
voice. If God is present, you will hear from him. Hearing his
voice brings joy, even if all you heard was a rebuke. According
to john 3:27-29, the friend of the bridegroom rejoices because
he can hear his voice. David used to hear God’s voice
all the time. It gave silent. David became miserable, and prayed
the words recorded in Psalm 51:8, ‘Make me to hear joy
and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.’
The
moment you stop hearing God’s voice, it seems as if your
bones suddenly break. It is better to die than to lose fellowship
with God. When last did you hear his voice? If you cannot hear
him, do you remember when he stopped speaking to you? Retrace
you steps and make amends where necessary.
In
today’s passage God spoke to Samuel for the first time.
Samuel heard God’s voice, but Eli heard nothing. If Go
is speaking and you aren’t hearing it, especially if you
are a minister of God, you should ask yourself whether God is
preparing someone to replace you. You should search your heart
and seek God’s face, so that his voice in your life may
be restored.
When
you hear from God, it means he is present in your life. It means
he is not planning to replace you. It means that, even if you
have offended him, your case is not beyond pardon. But when
you cease to hea4r from God, you should seriously consider why
it is happening. Seek his presence and worship him. Shower him
with love and let him speak to you. Do all you can to get him
to seak to you.
ACTION
POINT
Ask your father to speak clearly to you, in a way that you
would understand, and that he will heal all that is broken in
you.
