A DAY LIKE THIS
MEMORISE:
‘It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed,
because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning:
great is thy faithfulness.’ (Lam 3: 22-23).
READ:
Revelation 22: 11- 21
It was on a day such as this one
that the year began some 365 days ago. The Lord has been faithful
and has kept you in the time since then. Why not go to Him in worship
right now and thank Him for 366 days of miracles – sleeping
and waking –which He has bestowed on you.
‘It is of the LORD’S
mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassion fail
not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness’
(Lam 3: 22- 23).
This is a time to reflect on all
the things that have transpired during the past year. Think of
all the ways in which the Lord has bestowed blessing, increases,
promotions and provisions in all areas of your life – spiritually,
physically, financially, academically and in your family life.
The Psalmist says, ‘Blessed be the LORD, who daily loadeth
us with benefits’ (Ps 68: 19). Thank God for all those benefits.
Today is also a good time to check
your list of prayer requests for the year. How many of them have
been answered completely? Thank God for this. How many of them
are still being answered? For what do you still need to trust
the Lord? Carry those over to the coming year.
How has your relationship with
God grown this past year? Did you live victorious, conquering
sin? What particular sin still troubles you? Submit it completely
to God and study His Word for guidance on it. By God’s grace,
your weakness can become your strength.
Are you prepared for the coming
of the Lord? Is there anyone against whom you carry a grudge,
or who is carrying a grudge against you? Make peace with that
person today and enter the new year on a fresh note. Enter it
free from sin and full of thanksgiving.
Happy New Year!
