1 Chron 14 - 16
OUR
HELPER
MEMORISE:
‘So that we may boldly say, The LORD is my helper, and
I will not fear what man shall do unto me.’ (Heb 13:6)
READ:
Psalm 147: 1- 5
Our
God is infinitely good. He is goodness personified. The whole
creation benefits daily from his goodness (Ps 107: 15). He keeps
track of all events taking place in your life; even the most
insignificant Oh! He is awesomely wonderful!
Today’s
reading enjoins us to praise the Lord. We have several reasons
to praise God. One good reason is that he is building up Jerusalem.
Are you born again? The Lord is building up your life. He is
putting each block in its rightful place. He is not through
with you yet. He is the Master Builder, who knows exactly how
to make you what you ought to be. Stay right him so that he
can perfect what he has begun.
Another
reason for praising God is the fact that he gathers the outcasts
of Israel. If it were not for God, many of us would have died,
or been forgotten. We would have been in a different place from
where we are now. We were written off even by our loved ones.
We had lost hope. Yet God cared to look at us. He drew us out
of the pit of destruction, saved us and transformed us into
great vessels of honour! He changed our destiny! Praise God.
Apart
from this, he heals the broken-hearted, because he is the Great
Comforter. He comforts like no on else can. The widow of Nain
had lost her only son-her only beacon of hope. All efforts by
friends to console her just added more sorrow. On the way to
bury the boy, Jesus met them and told her to weep no more. When
God asks you not to weep, it means that he is going to turn
the cause of your sorrow into joy. He brought the widow’s
son back of life.
Take
a look at your life. See all your mistakes, weakness, disappointments
and failures. See your loss and pain and see how the lord has
been with you. He stood with you in the most trying times. Why
not thank him and appreciate him for his mercies? He who has
helped you thus far will help you to the end.
ACTION
POINT
Ask the Lord to send you help from his sanctuary.
Thank him for begin with you in spite of your weakness.
