OVERCOMING SATAN’S METHODS

MEMORISE: ‘And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness,
but rather reprove them.’ (Eph 5:11)
READ: 1 John 2: 15-17

Scripture says that you are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus. That means you are an overcomer. To be able to overcome your enemy, it is important you know how he operates. Hence today, we want to familiarize ourselves with some of Satan’s methods. In Genesis 3:1, Satan disguised himself and came to speak to Eve as the snake she was familiar with. He did this, because if he had come directly, Eve would have run away. Today, Satan still penetrates to us using people we respect, people we are familiar with.

Satan’s target was Adam. But he found him a hard nut to crack. So he decided to use Eve. He I a coward – but from this we learn that a man should not be physically or spiritually far from his spouse, or else she becomes easy prey for the devil. Also, as you grow spiritually, ensure you carry your wife along with you, or else she will drag you down. Eve was in the wrong place and therefore exposed herself to temptation. What was she doing near the forbidden fruit? Are you like her today? You claim not to desire adultery yet you look at other women lustfully. For example, have you promised not to smoke, but you still hang around with your smoking pals.

‘And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them’ (Eph 5:11). Another thing Satan did was to cause confusion between what God said and what Adam heard. He makes you doubt what God has spoken. For instance, when he knows he knows that you do not know God’s Word thoroughly, he will twist it to get you more confused.

‘Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth’ (2 Tim 2: 15).

You do not need to be a novice with the Word of God. Every word of God is tried and settled in heaven. Every promise of God is ‘Yea’ and ‘Amen’. God’s Word has integrity and as a result you can stand by it, hold doggedly onto it and see its fulfillment in your life, whether it is for healing, prosperity, success and fruitfulness, or victory over enemies. Do not accept Satan’s doubt that it may not work for you. God’s Word has always worked. Stay put.
