Sam 13 - 15
WHICH
VIEW?
MEMORISE:
‘He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the
children of Israel.’ (Ps 103: 7)
READ:
Psalms 103: 6-8
When
you give your life to Christ, you become a new creation. Then,
depending on certain factors, you begin to see things in certain
ways. ‘He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto
the children of Israel (Ps 103: 7). Your distance from an object
will determine how clearly and accurately you see that object.
You can only know God when you are close to him. When you walk
with God, there is a choice you have to make: whether you want
to know his ways or his acts. The choice you make will determine
the kind and quality of sacrifice you make and the price you
will be required to pay.
The
children of Israel in the wilderness were content to see God’s
miracles and sign. They were fine as long as the Red Sea opened
for them to cross; manna fell from heaven for 40 years and the
bitter waters became sweet at Marah. On one occasion, God invited
the elders and nobles to climb a little way up the mountain
and celebrate the progress they had made (Ex 24). ‘And
the LORD said unto Moses, ‘Come up to me into the mount,
and be there: and I will give thee tables of stones, and a law,
and commandments which I have written, that thou mayest teach
them’ (verse 12).
Moses
went up and kept going, to where God was on Mt Sinai. As long
as you remain complacent, you will never amount to anyone special
before God. If you do not thirst after God and continue to remain
in his presence, all you will see will be outcomes. Moses saw
God’s ways. He went up to God and tarried there in the
midst of fire, forty days and forty nights. He was at the place
where the miracle was being forged. He saw God in action. He
discussed with God intimately –face to face. No wonder,
when he came down the mountain, every problem he met became
a testimony.
You,
too, can be in the place where the miracle is being wrought.
You should not remain an onlooker. Do not be satisfied with
your current level. You can go higher. Move upwards from now.
Ask God to show you his ways and tell him you a not satisfied
with just seeing his acts. The higher you can climb, the more
secrets will be revealed to you.
ACTION
POINT
Allow the Lord to show you his ways, not just his acts,
and
draw you nearer to him than you are to anyone else.
