EVANGELISM
BY MIRACLES
MEMORISE:
‘How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost
and with power who went about doing good and healing all that
were oppressed
of the evil for God was with him.’ (Acts 10: 38)
READ:
Acts 1: 8 -11
The
major purpose for giving us power through the baptism of the
Holy Ghost is to make us effective witnesses for Christ. What
is the place of signs and wonders in evangelism? Jesus himself
said that people are seeking for signs and wonders and without
them, they will refuse to believe. One reason for Christ’s
outstanding success in his three and a half years of ministry
was the presence of the miraculous. He was able to affect many
people, towns, villages and cities in a dramatic way by the
power of the Holy Ghost. ‘How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth
with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good,
and healing all that were oppressed of the devil for God was
with him’ (Acts 10:38).
A
look through the Acts shows the fact that whenever there were
miracles, people gave their lives to Christ or feared and served
God more. On the day of Pentecost, when strangers from other
lands gathered for the feast in Israel and heard the disciples
speaking in their own native tongues, the result was the salvation
of 3000 souls. In Acts 3: 6-9, a man lame from birth and well-known
to the community was miraculously healed – and a crowd
gathered. When Peter preached ax short sermon to them, 5000
souls were harvested into God’s kingdom.
At
another time the disciples preached Jesus and were arrested.
Yet at least 5000 men gave their lives to Christ (Acts 4: 3-4).
A miracle of judgment also took place in the early Church, when
Ananais and Sapphira lied and both dropped dead. Instead of
running away, the people came in and everyone feared God the
more.
You
can do much by the power of the Holy Ghost. Enter into the realm
of miracle evangelism today. Just one spectacular miracle that
takes place in your assembly and spreads around is enough to
fill your church the following Sunday. So what are you praying
for? How are you praying? Ask God to arise and manifest his
power as in times of old, in your life and parish. The results
will not be hidden. You will know the man who has the power
of the Holy Ghost. Signs and wonders follow him everywhere he
goes. Do they follow up?
