DUTIES TOWARDS THE KING
MEMORISE:
'Moreover it is required in stewards, That a man be found faithful.'
(1 Cor 4:2)
READ:
Deuteronomy 6:4-5
The one who is chosen by God has certain responsibilities
to the One who has chosen him. In Isaiah 6:8, the Lord asked:
'whom shall I send, and who will go for us?' Isaiah's reply
was: 'Here am I; send me.' The responsibility to God here is
that the one who is chosen should be available to the king at
all times.
'Moreover it is required in stewards, that a
man be found faithful' (1 Cor 4:2). This gives us another duty
the chosen one owes to God. He must be faithful. Are you faithful
to God in every area of your life? Matthew 5:8 says the chosen
one must be pure. It takes a pure heart to go before a Holy
God. Also, he must be diligent. Business? He shall stand before
kings: he shall not stand before mean men.'
Do you take pains to seek God in prayer and
fasting? Do you consider how you dress before the Lord? Is God
happy with the kind of clothing you put on? Are the flesh and
the devil jubilat over this seductive wear? Or are you clothed
in the garments of rigteousness at every moment?
Another responsibility of the chosen is humility.
'God … giveth grace unto the humble' (Jas 4:6). He much
also acknowledege his king at all times. 'In all thy ways acknowledge
him, and he shall direct thy paths' (Prov 3:6). Also the chosen
one must give the One who chose him love and put him first (Deut
6:4-5).
The blessings of the favoured are greater the
blessing, the heavier the responsibility the chosen must bear.
Go to the Lord for the grace to be able to meet his expectations
for your life.
ACTION
POINT
Pray that you might be a faithful steward in God's house;
That you would increasingly become like Christ - in likeness
and humility.
