SALVATION INCLUDES THE SOUL

MEMORISE: 'And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, the ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect will of God
READ: Romans 12:1-2

After your spirit is born again, your soul (mind) will begin to change. Being the reasoning faculty in a man, as soon as it perceives that your spirit has been recreated, it will begin to probe and ask questions. You will recall how you asked questions when you first knew the Lord. Why condemn drinking of wine when Jesus himself turned water into wine? Why must we make restitution? Why should we pay tithes?

'I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God' (Rom 12:1-2).

After you are born again, you have to renew your mind continually. You do this through studying the Bible, attending Sunday school classes, listening to sermons every Sunday, and so on. The more you do this, the more your soul cooperates with your spirit and the better they will blend with each other. To renew your mind effectively, you have to be careful not to watch or listen to polluted films and worldly music. The educated and enlightened ones have more problems here, because their minds have been trained to ask questions. They find it difficult to follow their spirits when they become born again.

After I was saved, I asked several questions. Why did God plant the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the garden when he knew Adam and Eve would eat it. Having eaten the fruit, why quarrel with them when he knew they would eat it? I was asking because I needed answers. God was patient with me, knowing where he was taking me. He answered most of my questions the way no pastor would. Are you asking questions today? Study the word diligently and ask the Holy Spirit. He will give you answers. But now, how saved is your mind?
