Text: II Kings 6:30-33
There
are lots of evil practices in the world. Men and women are always
ready to shift blames, as well as problems, to others. Our text,
today, practically demonstrates how human beings are quick to
transfer problems to others, especially the righteous. The king
rent his clothes in sorrow and the people saw that he was wearing
sackcloth under his dress. Wearing sackcloth among the Jews in
those days was a sign of deep repentance and deep sorrow. However,
the king’s wrath suddenly turned toward Elisha and he wanted
his head. Meanwhile, as the king was sending his messengers to
go and cut off Elisa’s head, Elisha was with the elders.
The Holy Spirit ministered to Elisha about the king’s intention
and when he told the elders, the messenger of the king was consequently
detained. The king came and said the evil being witnessed was
from the Lord and he saw no reason why he should wait any longer.
This story is very interesting and full of beautiful lessons.
The
first lesson is that another person’s problem will not become
yours, no matter how hard the enemy tries. Psalm 125:3 says,”
For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous;
lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.”
Whenever there is a problem, it is common for people to look for
someone to transfer it to. If anything should happen to you, people
are quick to say it is because you are born again. Two, you must
not accept the devil’s load. Satan is wont to present his
load to you but it is your duty to reject it. Many of us have
received the devil’s load. We have to give him back today.
Return the load of sickness that the devil has given you. In Isaiah
54:17, the Bible says we should condemn every tongue that rises
against us in judgment.
The
book of Isaiah 54:17 says “No weapon that is formed against
thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee
in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servant
of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.”
Do not allow anyone to shift his or her problems to you. Reject
whatever the devil offers and accept God’s good plan and
purpose for you.
Memory Verse: psalms 125:3 - “For the rod of the wicked
shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; less the righteous
put forth their hands unto iniquity.”
