Kings 7-10
Topic: The Bait
Text: Numbers 22:17-32
Our
world is filled with cursed people. Since curses are spiritual
in nature, it is not easy to detect it in the lives of men and
women. However, whenever a curse is in place it leaves a sour
taste on the lips of its victim. Living a cursed life makes life’s
burden heavy and unbearable. You owe yourself the duty of identifying
all hidden curses in your life and erasing them through the blood
of Jesus. A whole life may be under a spell or a curse. A business
or the premises where it is carried out may be jinxed.
Whenever
anyone or anything is under a curse nothing will work. Efforts
made will yield no fruit; good prospects will not profit those
who get involved with it while the opposite of what you desire
and pray for may begin to happen to you. Wicked people place curses
on the lives of men and women. How can we recognize a curse? A
curse is in place when someone invokes supernatural forces to
fight against his opponent. When someone curses an opponent, he
is asking supernatural forces to destroy such an opponent. When
people have an opponent that is too big for them to handle, they
can pronounce a curse on the fellow.
There
is an example in Numbers 22:2-3 and 5-6. Why did Balak invite
Balaam? He asked him to curse the people so that he might be able
to overpower them. When will a curse be effective? A curse will
become effective whenever there is a reason for it. If you have
not done anything that warrants a curse, if someone curses you,
it will not work. When the evil ones want to put a curse on you,
they would do something to make you angry so that there will be
a cause to curse you. This is one of the reasons why you must
never be angry. If someone is trying o make you angry, such a
person may be setting a bait for you. Do not allow any curse to
come upon your life.
Memory Verse: Numbers 22:17 - “For I will promote thee unto
very great honour, and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me:
come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.
