Peters 1 - 2
Topic:Your
Responsibility
Text: James 2:12-26
We
often neglect our own responsibility and expect miracles to drop
on our laps without any effort on our part. For anything you expect
God to do for you, you must take certain steps. Let me ask you
a direct question: What steps have you personally taken to experience
the miracle you look up to God for? If you are earnest about your
needed miracles you will take some steps. One thing common to
desperate people is that they do desperate things. Their prayers
are different from the prayers of those who are not desperate.
Desperate people, therefore, get desperate miracles.
You
are not likely to experience a change in your situation until
you put your desperation into action. Do not just talk about what
you intend to do. The Bible says faith without works is dead.
It is not enough for you to wish sickness away. You will have
to do what you have not been able to do before, if you want to
experience the power of God in your life. A lot of people who
talk about prayer do not pray. It is only when you move that God
will move. James 4:8 says: “Draw nigh to God, and he will
draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your
hearts, ye double minded.” If you stay where you are, God
also will stay put on His throne. Do what you can do and let God
do what you cannot do. The man with the withered hand was told
to stretch forth his hands to receive his miracle, in Matthew
12:9-13. The hand was restored after he stretched it. If he had
not stretched forth his hand, he would not have received his miracle.
When those men, who brought their friend, in Mark 2:1-2, found
out that there was no way to reach Jesus Christ, they broke the
roof. They were desperate people who put their faith into action.
Bartmaeus yelled until Jesus stopped and gave him his miracle.
You
must lend weight to your faith through action. If you are not
yet born again, it is time to change your location. Leave the
society of sinners and join the society of the righteous. Stop
your journey to hell. Change your mind today and tell the devil
to leave you alone. Open the door of your heart and let Jesus
come in. Let Him become your Lord and Saviour.
Memory Verse: Acts 16:25 - “And at midnight Paul and Silas
prayed, and sang praises unto God; and the prisoners heard them.”
