Confronting Satan
Text: I Peter 5:7-9
Jesus
came to destroy the works of the devil. Satan is aware of this
fact. When Jesus dies, however, Satan thought he was free and
breathed a sigh of relief. It was a short-lived relief because,
when Jesus rose from the dead, trouble once again erupted for
Satan as he realized that Jesus had left the continuation of the
establishment of God’s Kingdom on earth in the hands of
His disciples. It then dawned on Satan that he now had a lot of
people to contend with those who are striving daily to establish
the Kingdom of God on earth by destroying the satanic kingdom.
This explains Satan’s hatred for you. As we wrestle over
souls of men, the enemy hates us because our actions keep depopulating
his own camp. We are taking his own people and bringing them to
our own side. By winning souls, we are reducing the number of
those souls that would have gone to hell with Satan.
Revelation
20:15 says: “And whosoever was not found written in the
book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” As soon as
someone’s name is written in the book of life, the devil
loses that soul, and this hurts him. How does soul winning affect
the government? Every soul that you win reduces the number of
those that Satan could use as fronts in political posts. It will
please him if he can get a nominal Christian to become the president,
a governor or senator. This is because anytime he gets a nominal
Christian to become president, he scores a double.. In this way,
he has someone he can control and, at the same time, use to bring
down the name of Jesus, because when the nominal Christian president
starts misbehaving people are sure to start saying, “But
he calls himself a Christian?” God hates His name to be
blasphemed through a believer’s action. When David killed
Uriah in order to take Uriah’s wife, God sent a prophet
to him to warn him that he had done something wrong. David asked
for forgiveness and God forgave him. However, because he caused
the name of the Lord to be maligned, the child born to David by
Bathsheba had to die. Remember, the devil is a dogged fighter.
You must continue to confront him until victory is yours.
Memory Verse: Revelation 20:15 - “And whosoever was not
found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
