Mask
Text: Romans 7:18-24
If
you wish to see those who specialize in putting on masks, you
should get into a Christian assembly. People try to put up their
best appearance in a typical Sunday service. Those who are sad
try to flash a toothy smile, while those who are torn apart in
internal wars pretend as if all is well. God does not want us
to put on a mask. He will be happier if we are sincere and allow
Him to know exactly our true spiritual state.
The
text for today’s devotion reveals the secret of Paul’s
success. Paul was honest and down to earth. When he reviewed his
life, he cried out to God. The Almighty God heard him and came
to his rescue. He was able to say, in Romans 8:1-2 that: “There
is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus,
who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law
of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the
law of sin and death.”
Samson
also owned up to his fault. He must have said something like:
“Here in prison, without eyes, ridiculed by unbelievers
because of my persistent disobedience, O Lord help me.”
God made him a great hero in death than in life. I do not know
where you are. I cannot answer the question for you. Often, the
front that we present to people gives them a wrong idea about
our situation, and we tend to enjoy the deception. In John 11,
the world of God makes it clear to us that He turn a stinking
dead person to a living testimony.
If
you need the healing of God, you just have to tell Him exactly
where it hurts. Whatever your problem, spiritual or moral, you
just have to tell God the truth and put off every mask.
