Habakkuk 1 - 3
Topic:
Soldiers And Civilians
Text: Exodus 17:8-13
The
Church of the living God has a lot of lessons to learn from the
godhead. Unity, love and mutual co-existence and preferring one
another are visible demonstrated among them. For example, Jesus
is acknowledged as the greatest (John 14:28). God the Father said
Jesus has a Name above all other names (Phil. 2:28). The Holy
Ghost was sent by the Father to glorify the Son (John 16:14).
Jesus Christ said that if you offend the Holy Spirit you would
not be forgiven (Luke 12:10).
Who
then is the greatest among them? Each of them honours the other
personality in the Godhead, wherever there is love there is no
strife. If this is not settled in our lives, we shall never win
the world. Once we love one another, we will be able to work as
a team, in harmony and in one accord. If we go to battle in one
accord, it will be very difficult for any enemy to defeat us.
It is when we love one another with brotherly love that we will
be able to harness all our resources.
A very good example is found in our text. Aaron and Hur harnessed
their resources and the children of Israel won the battle against
the Amalekites. We must learn from this. All soldiers of Christ
must life up the banner of love. Additionally, we cannot fight
the battle of life alone. We must enlist others. There are lots
of civilians among us. We must enlist them. The civilian here
means anyone who is not in the army of the Lord: anyone who is
not yet born again.
Jesus Christ said we should do to the civilian as He has done
to us. John 14:12: “verily, verily, I say unto you, He that
believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater
works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”
What were the works that He did to us? He came to recruit us into
the army of the LORD. We must reach out to others by recruiting
them into the army of the Lord.
Memory Verse: John 14:28 - “Ye have heard how I said unto
you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would
rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father, for my Father is
greater than I.”
