Topic:God’s
Army
Text: Psalms 24: 7-10
A
good fighter whenever there is a fight. A well-trained sportsman
looks forward with excitement to participating in an athletics
meet. Also, a well-trained soldier is ever battle-ready to demonstrate
at war what he has been taught. The Lord is a soldier. The Lord
Jesus Christ has never been a civilian, even for one day. The
Bible says: “The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name”
(Exodus 15:3).
The
Lord is in fact, the Commander-in-Chief of the hosts of heaven,
according to our text. God has an army of highly disciplined soldiers
in heaven; they follow Him whenever He goes. Revelation 19:14-15
says: “And the armies which were in heaven followed him
upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And
out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite
the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he
treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty
God.” But you may ask: Why does the Bible ever give us the
picture of Jesus as a warrior king? As believers, we are constantly
warring against Satan and his hosts.
The
fact that the battles of life are fought every day makes our need
for a Warrior King imperative. No soldier wants to go into battle
without a competent Commander-in-Chief. The moment you are sure
that the Captain of our Salvation is the only Warrior who has
never lost a battle, you will go into battle with assurances of
victory, no matter how fierce the battle. Moreover, the greatest
privilege on earth is to belong to the most powerful army in the
universe.
Every
member of God’s army is assured of victory. Since our Lord
never loses a battle, we will never lose a battle or know defeat.
Although we may have rough experiences in warfare, we shall end
on a victorious note. This is why the Bible says we are more than
conquerors.
Memory Verse: Exodus 15:3 - “The LORD is a man of war: the
LORD is his name.”
