SAME START, DIFFERENT FINISH

MEMORISE: ‘So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy.’ (Rom 9:16)
READ: Jeremiah 1:4-5

Everyone who comes into this world begins as a baby but some end up as great people, while others end up as mean men. Some become the movers and shakers of the times, whiles others are totally unheard of and make no impact. Romans 9:16 says: ‘So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy.’

Thank God he loves you and his mercy is upon you. According to our reading, even before your parents met, God concluded his plans concerning you. You are not a mistake. God has a purpose for your life. No matter what you are going through now, God sats that since you are his child and heave determined to follow him, your tomorrow will be all right. Your end shall be greater than you beginning.

God is sovereign. And as such he does whatever he likes and no man or demon can question him. It has pleased God to make you his own, so that after your earthly existence, you can be with him in heaven. However in determining how people end up, two factors are prominent: God’s divine plan and the individual’s personal responsibilities. God has a plan for your life. By reason of this, irrespective of whatever may have happen, his plan will still come to pass. We see that in Paul, when as Sual he persecuted the church, but when God said enough was enough, he became a strong pillar of the same church he had once persecuted (Gal 1:13-16)

Where there is a divine plan, divine intervention will always follow. Take Paul’s case into consideration. People have always asked why God chose to leave Jacob and hate Esau even before their birth. That brings in personal responsibility. God knows your heart in spite of whatever promise or profession you may make. God knew Esau would despise and sell his birthright. He also knew that David would serve him from his heart and that king Saul would abuse the privilege given to him. God loves those who love him (Prov 8:17). Will you be responsible for what God has committed into your hands? If you won’t, God can change his plan. May he never change his plan for your life.

Some people pass through this world unnoticed.
I shall not be one of them, make me fruitful for you.
