REASONS
FOR CELEBRATION
MEMORISE:
'But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, An holy
nation, a peculiar people; that ye should Show forth the praises
of him who hath called you Out of darkness into his marvelous
light.' (1 Pet 2:9)
READ:
Revelation 5:11-13
In
Esther 7:1-2, we see Queen Esther preparing and inviting the
king and Haman to a banquet of wine. Why would her royal majesty
want to celebrate and invite the king to a banquet? The first
reason is that she was nothing before she became queen. Revelation
1:5-6 says we should give thanks to Almighty God and to our
Lord Jesus Christ for making us kings and priest unto God. You
claim the blessing, but have you thanked God celebrated the
fact that Jesus has made you a king?
Another
cause for celebration was that she was chosen out of so many.
1 Peter 2:9 says: 'But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood,
an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth
the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into
marvelous light.' You are chosen of God. Chosen ones are worshippers
and should praise him. Apart from this, the banquet was to celebrate
the fact that Esther had obtained favour. 1 Samuel 6:20-22,
while dancing, David told Michal he was dancing because he had
obtained favour from God. Romans 9:15-16 says that we are what
we are today by the favour of God.
Esther
was grateful that she who had nothing before was now being offered
half the kingdom. In those days, the kingdom was almost half
of the whole world. 1 Corinthians 3:19 -23 says that all things
are yours whether in life or death, things present or things
to come. In addition, she deserved death but was given life.
Ephesians 2:1-5 says we too were dead in sins and trespasses
but were quickened by his great love and through his mercy.
Esther
celebrated also because king Ahasuerus was a great king. A king
who could give a feast for three months was no ordinary king.our
king too is truly great. He is the king of kings. Worthy is
the lamb that was slain to receive … blessing, and honour,
and glory and power… for ever and ever' (Rev 5:12-13).
Do you celebrate what this highest king does for you every day?
