THE KING'S GENEROSITY
MEMORISE: 'Then said the king unto her, what wilt thou, queen
Esther? And what is thy request? It shall be even given thee to
the half of the kingdom.' (Esth5:3)
READ:
Esther 4:10-5:3
'Then said the king unto her,
what wilt thou, queen Esther? And what is thy request? It shall
be even given thee to the half of the Kingdom' (Esth 5:3). A striking
feature in today's reading is the level of generosity of the king.
A king who offers his queen half his kingdom is an extremely generous
king. This points us to divine generosity. God is always very
generous to those he has chosen as his favourites. The Scriptures
have a catalogue of them.
Abraham was a favourite of God.
Genesis 24: 34 -35 speaks of his wealth. Isaac, Abraham's son
was another favourite of God. Genesis 26:12 -14 says he was so
wealthy that he became the envy of a nation. He was God's choice
between two sons. Genesis 30:43 also talks about another chosen
one of God. His name was Jacob. He did not inherit wealth from
his parents or grandparents yet God gave him immense riches.
David was a most favoured one.
1 Chronicles 22:7, 14-16 tells us he was so rich that he made
available an estimated sum of almost $4 billion for the building
of God's house. His son and successor Solomon superceded him in
wealth. Solomon was so extremely wealthy that during his reign,
gold and silver were abundant like ordinary stones (2 Chron 1:14
- 15).
The Lord has chosen us. If we
become his favourites and remain so, much wealth lies ahead of
us. If we become his favourites and remain so, much wealth lies
ahead of us. These people came into financial and material greatness
after they became God's favourites. As God's favourite, you are
on your way to financial and material greatness. You cannot be
a bride of the king of kings and live in squalor. Wealth, abundant
prosperity and greatness are yours. The degree to which you will
possess these will be determined by how much of a favourite you
are to him. Move cloer by pleasing him today.
