Topic:
Violence And Heaven
Text: Psalm 72:16-19
Many
people often wonder why Christians are commanded to be violent
when it comes to the issue of running the Christian race and getting
to heaven. You may ask, “Why is violence involved in seeking
the Kingdom of God? It is because of the nature of the Kingdom.
It is a powerful Kingdom filled with peace, joy, wonder and glorious
majesty. Those who occupy top positions in government are always
few and few rule over the majority. When you consider the awesome
power, majesty and the everlasting nature of the coming Kingdom
you will not want to miss it. People struggle for this kind to
power.
The
Bible says, “Many are called but few are chosen.”
(Matt.22:14) I will be one of the few. In Psalms 72:16, God gives
us a picture of those who will be in this Kingdom: “There
shall be an handful of corn in the earth upon the top of the mountains;
the fruit therefore shall shake like Lebanon: and they of the
city shall flourish like grass of the earth.” Some people
lived in the city while some lived on mountaintops. The cities
were usually situated on the mountaintops, in the older days.
This could be for protection. Those who are always on top are
always superior to those who are below. The word of God says those
on the mountaintop would be handful but they will be mighty. Those
who will rule in and exercise control in the Kingdom will be few.
This is why God wants us to seek first the Kingdom of God. Make
sure that, one way or the other, you get into the Kingdom. You
must seek the Kingdom diligently.
It
is those who diligently seek God that will be rewarded. Again,
you must seek the Kingdom, whole-heartedly. Once you make up your
mind do not look back. Luke 9:62: “And Jesus said unto him,
No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back is
fit for the Kingdom of God.” If you have ever been involved
in running a race, you would have known that there is danger in
looking back. It is not your business to check how others are
running. You have a goal and you should keep your eyes on it.
Keep running the race with your eyes fixed on the goal. Be violent.
Determine to get to heaven.
Memory Verse: Luke 9:62 - “And Jesus said unto him, No man,
having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for
the kingdom of God.
