Topic: Divine Sufficiency
Text: II Cor 2: 15 - 16, 3: 5
Today,
we have to join Paul the Apostle to ask a crucial question: “For
we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved
and in them that perish: To the one we are savour of death unto
death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who
is sufficient for these things?” (II Corinthians 2:15-16).
Who
among us can claim that he is able to do all that we have stated
above?” Who is able to be obedient and faithful undo death?
Who is really sufficient for these things? Paul gives us the answer
in II Corinthians 3:5, “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves
to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of
God.” Because our sufficiency is of God, we are to draw
strength from Him. Ephesians 6:10 says: “Finally, my brethren,
be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might.” If
we draw our strength from the Lord, we shall receive the ability
to face life’s situation.
You
have to rely on God because you cannot do these things on your
own accord. If you rely on Him and draw your strength from Him,
you will be amazed when you are able to do certain things you
never thought possible. You will, along with this, discover that
obedience is very easy. The Lord Himself will hold your hand and
continue to lead you on. What must you do to get Him hold your
hand? What must you do to get Him be your strength and dwell in
you? The answer is found in I Peter 1:15-16: “But as he
which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of
conversation; because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
Holiness will attract God to you. Holiness will also lead to fellowship
with God and agreement with Him. Amos 3:3 says: “Can two
walk together, except they be agreed?”
The
moment you realize that you cannot succeed without God’s
assistance, you will fully understand why you should pray without
ceasing. You can become a recipient of God’s sufficiency
through prayer. The more you pray the more of God’s sufficiency
you will experience in all areas of your life.
Memory Verse: II Corinthians 3:5 - “Not that we are sufficient
of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency
is of God.”
