The Entry Point
Text: Proverbs 26:1-3
Problems
can be likened to a tree. If you cut off a tree leaving its stump,
it will sprout again. As long as the roots are intact, you have
only swept the dirt under a carpet. To get rid of a tree you have
to deal with the root. Why would God allow a siege to come into
the life of a man or a city? As far as the Lord is concerned,
there is only one principal cause of siege. This is sin. You can
also call it disobedience to God. Deuteronomy 28:15, 49, 53 tell
us more about this, “But it shall come to pass, if thou
will not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe
to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee
this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake
thee.” “The LORD shall bring a nation against thee
from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation
whose tongue thou shalt not understand;” “And thou
shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and
of thy draughts, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in siege,
and in the straightness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress
thee.” God is saying here that if you do not obey Him completely,
you will be put under siege. God does not do anything without
warning us first. He is warning us now because He wants to set
us free. For example, if someone suffering from cholera is cure,
if the doctors love him, they would advise him that, henceforth,
he should live in a clean environment and eat clean food, otherwise
he would be back in the hospital. God wants us to be free permanently.
The word of God says in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin
is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ
our Lord.” He cleanses us from all sin. If anyone under
siege asks for mercy from God, He obtains mercy. Since sin is
the cause of a siege, as soon as the cause is removed, the effect
will go. If you can see some traces of siege in your life and
business, go on and ask God to show you what you are doing wrong
and made restitution.
Memory Verse: Isaiah 55:7 - “Let the wicked forsake his
way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts, and let him return
unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to God, for
he will abundantly pardon.”
