A Godly Heritage
Text: Gal. 4:1-8.
Those
who come from royal families generally wish to be identified as
men and women with royal blood flowing through their veins. They
are always proud of their heritage. When a prince passes through
a street, members of the community would likely say, “Here
goes the prince”. Some people might even go ahead to wish
that they also could lay claim to royalty or nobility. Although
earthly princes and princesses are accorded lots of respect, there
is a greater honour for those who can lay claim to divine heritage.
God so loved you and me that He gave us Jesus Christ, but there
are certain things that follow. One of those things is that we
can become children of God (John 1:12). If you receive Jesus Christ,
you can now call yourself, without any doubt, a child of God.
The blood of your father flows in your veins. There is a link
between the blood of a father and the blood of his son. The blood
of the Almighty God begins to flow in your veins the moment you
become born again. Jesus Christ said He is the vine and we are
the branches (John 15:1-2). It is the same liquid that flows through
the vine that flows through the branches. Whether you believe
it or not, from the day you become born again, you undergo a blood
transfusion. This is why any witch that tries to kill you will
die, as she will taste the blood of God. II Pet. 1:2-4 confirms
tat we are partakers of the very nature of God: “Grace and
peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and
of Jesus our Lord. According as his divine power that given unto
us of things that pertains unto live and godliness, through the
knowledge of him that had called us to glory and virtue. Whereby
are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that
by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped
the corruption that is in the world through Christ”. The
very nature of God becomes available to you the moment you become
born again, meaning that your nature becomes the same with that
of God. What a glorious heritage!

Verse: John 1:12 - “But as many as received him, to them
gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe
on his name”.
