Prov 12 - 14
Topic:God’s
Favourite
Text: Numbers 10:20-23
God
wants Christians to be favourites. Although He has many offspring’s
in this world, only those who make up the body of Christ are the
true children of God. It is thy He desires to fellowship with
daily, to live in His presence continually, to share in His deepest
secrets and to enjoy His closest confidence and trust. Being God’s
favourite carries with it many privileges not available to others.
For
example, when Jesus Christ walked the earth, out of all the people
in Israel, He chose twelve men as His disciples. It was these
twelve who knew Him best, as they were with Him most of the time.
Out of that group, our Lord further chose three as His closest
companions. Yet, even among the three, there was one in whom He
confided most; the one He entrusted the care of His own mother
to at the cross (john 19:25-27). This disciple was referred to
as the disciple whom Jesus loved (John 19:26). God speak to some
special people not in dreams and visions alone but in plain language.
These are the favoured ones. Moses was such a favourite of God:
“And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among
you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and
will speak unto him in a dream. My servant Moses is not so, who
is faithful in all mine house. With him will I speak mouth to
mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude
of the LORD shall be behold” (Numbers 12:6-8).
There
are other examples in the Bible of those to whom the Lord spoke,
“mouth to mouth”. In Acts 9:10-19, God called Ananias
by name. In Acts 10, God spoke directly to Cornelius and sent
him to the house of Simon the tanner to ask after Simon Peter
who would come to preach the Gospel to him and his household (Acts
10:1-6). Would you like for the Lord to speak to you in clear
terms like this? Would you like to occupy such a highly esteemed
position with God that He would speak to you “mouth to mouth”,
as He did with His servant Moses? If so, the way to receive such
detailed instruction from the Lord is by becoming His favourite.
To do this you must conduct yourself in such a manner as to become
a fovourite of the Almighty.
Memory Verse: John 19:26”when Jesus therefore saw his mother,
and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his
mother, Woman behold thy son!
