Is Sure
Text: I Samuel 15:2-23
So
far, you have discovered that one may experience a siege once
in a while. However, it is important to know that it cannot last
forever. Whatever has a beginning must have an end. Yes, a siege
may come but it will not prevail. In Matthew 16:18, God promised
that the gates of Hell will not prevail against the Church. God
said, in Isaiah 37:32-35, that the enemy would go back through
the way he came in. In Deuteronomy 28:1, 7 God says clearly that
if you will hearken diligently to His words, and follow His commandments,
certain blessings will follow you and overtake you. One of the
blessings is that whichever enemy comes against you one way will
flee through other ways. This is subject to obeying all the commandments
of God. The enemy will run seven ways the moment he sees that
the One behind you is the Lion of the tribe of Judah. He is bound
to run when he sees that the One behind you is the Lord of hosts,
the Man of war, the Consuming fire, and the Ancient of days. If
all is well between you and God, every siege against you will
crumble. Someone said the Christian life is like the life of someone
in a city under siege. He said when you are inside the city you
are safe, and when you are outside the city, you are in trouble.
This is true to some extent. It is written in Psalm 91:1-10 that
he that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide
under the shadow of the Almighty and no evil will come near his
dwelling place. When you are dwelling in Christ, no evil will
come near you. At times, problems occur even though you are dwelling
in Christ. If problems still come, you must ask God for what you
are doing wrong. You must find how the enemy was able to penetrate
the defense that God has around you. This is because the word
of God says in Psalm 125:2 that, as the mountains are round about
Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about His people from henceforth
and forever. Although you may be under a siege today, do not give
up. Your tomorrow shall be all right. Victory is sure.
Memory Verse: I Samuel 15:22 - “And Samuel said Hath the
LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in
obeying the voice of the ORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
and to hearken than the fat of rams.”
