The Origin Of Fear
Text: Genesis 3:8-15
Fear
originated after Adam and Eve disobeyed God. Before this, God,
Adam and Eve were good friends. The Bible tells us that, at evening
times, God used to come and play with them in the garden. However,
after they sinned, they became afraid and tried to run away, when
God came visiting. “And he said I heard thy voice in the
garden, and I was afraid because I was naked, and I hid myself.”
Sin breeds fear. Fear connotes that believes Satan rather than
God. It was when Adam and Eve consented to the will of Satan that
fear came in.
A
child of God that succumbs to fear is insulting God. Such a person
is telling God that Satan has more power than God. I know that
all powers on earth and in heaven belong to God. A child of God
should not fear. Fear is sinful. Fear belongs to Satan while faith
belongs to God. Romans 14:23 says: “And he that doubteth
is damned if he eat eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not
faith is sin.” If you do not have faith, you will have fear.
If you have faith, you will believe that there is nothing impossible
with God. God is always happy with such people.
Fear
can be divided into three parts - Physical, soul and spiritual.
The greatest fear that man has is the fear of death. Satan knows
that many people do not want to die. And because of this, he has
enslaved many people. Hebrew 2:15 tells us that Jesus Christ came
to “deliver them who through fear of death were all their
lifetime subject to bondage.” Some will never be saved from
the bondage of fear until they die. Nobody can alter the date
of death. There is no strong man on the day of death. For a true
child of God, there are various instances in the Bible where we
are told that you and Jesus Christ will decide when you want o
die. The fear of death loses its grip on you the moment you align
yourself with Jesus. Fear vanishes when Jesus is near.
Memory Verse: I John 4:18 - “There is no fear in love; but
perfect love casteth out fear; because fear hath torment. He that
feareth is not made perfect in love.
