Text: I John 2:12-17
Heaven
is a long way from here. To get there you must make serious preparation.
Hose who want to travel overseas generally make serious preparations
in order to procure travel documents. Some even go to the extent
of borrowing large sums of money in order to bring the dream of
traveling to the realm of reality.
More
efforts must be made in order to get to heaven. You must be consecrated
to God. Consecration talks about self-discipline. You must be
able to control your stomach when you want to fast. You must be
able to control your flesh and stop wearing dresses that do not
glorify God, even though it attracts attention to you. Some dress
to attract men while some dress to please God. According to I
John 2:15-17, some people will not make heave, no matter how much
they try.
What
will take some people to hell is the lust of the flesh or the
lust of the eyes and the pride of the world. Matthew 26:41 says:
“Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the
spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Prayer
alone will not be sufficient. You have to watch and be careful.
Some
of us do not even pray anymore. Why all these extra preparations?
It is because the extra preparations determine the difference
between the foolish and the wise among the chosen. We are not
talking about the unsaved. We are talking about those who are
already born again, sanctified, and holy. Even among the chosen
ones, some will still not make it because of lack of extra preparations.
You have to be extra-ordinarily ready for heaven. Get ready today.
Memory Verse: Matthew 26:41 - “Watch and pray, that ye enter
not into temptation the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh
is weak.
