Text: Proverbs 19:1-17
Modern
day Christians prefer that type of gospel that gives them the
liberty to do what they like. Many people today want to enjoy
the better of two worlds: they have one leg in the Church and
the other leg in the world. Most Church-goers detest the old-fashioned
gospel, but the Bible says: “Jesus answered them, Verily,
verily, I say unto you, whosoever committeth sin is the servant
of sin. And the servant abideth not in the house forever: but
the Son abideth forever. If the Son therefore shall make you free,
ye shall be free indeed. I know that ye are Abraham’s seed;
but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.”
(John 8:34-37) Do you pay your tithes?
You
may not like this but I have to tell you the truth. Some of us
do not pay all our tithes. Instead of 10% we pay 7% and think
that God does not understand mathematics. We have forgotten that
He is the greatest mathematician ever. Some of us pay our tithes
that come in Naira and not those that come in dollars. Do you
pay your vows? Ecclesiastes 5:4 says: “When thou vowest
a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in
fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.” Are you forgiving
all those who have offended you? Mark 11:25 says: “And when
ye stand praying, forgive, if ye fought against any…. That
your Father also which is in heaven may forgive your trespasses.”
If you do not forgive, God will not forgive you and your prayers
will not be answered.
After
subjecting yourself to a rigorous self-examination and you discover
that you have defaulted in any of the ways listed above, you have
to restitute your ways. God says in II Chronicles 7:14: “If
my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves,
and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then
will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will
heal their land.”. God shall hear your prayers today and
He will heal your body, soul and spirit.
Memory Verse: Malachi 3:10 - “Bring ye all the tithes into
the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house and prove
me now herewith saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you
the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing that there
shall not be room enough to receive it.”
