Topic: Divine Windows
Text: Genesis 39:1-12

Today, we shall consider what the Bible means when it refers to the windows of heaven being opened. There are three principal functions of a window.

One, for the person inside a house to have a good view of what goes on outside. The other is to allow for air to flow through. The third is to allow light to shine through. We can look at these three ways from the spiritual standpoint. The first thing that will happen when the windows of Heaven open is that God will look out from Heaven and see us. When God sees us, things will begin to happen. God gave a special instruction to Moses, in Numbers 6:22-26, on how he expected Aaron to bless the child of Israel: “And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD life up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.” In the blessings here, two things have to do with God seeing you.

One says the Lord will make His face shine upon you. When God sees you and His face begins to shine, it means He recognizes you and He is happy to see you. The other one says the Lord will lift up His countenance upon you. This means God will life up His face when He sees you. When the windows of Heaven open and God looks down and sees someone He loves, His face will begin to shine. He will put whatever He has been doing aside to attend to the fellow. When God looks on you it follows that He will pay attention to you. When God pays attention to you, it follows that your prayers will be answered. When you hear of prayers being answered by fire, it only follows that the windows of Heaven have opened, God has looked out of the window, He has seen someone that He approves of and has decided to answer the prayer of that fellow.

In I Kings 18:36-38, Elijah offers a prayer that lasted less than one minute but because God had opened the windows of Heaven and was already watching and interested, fire fell from Heaven. God will answer your prayers by fire. If enemies besiege someone for whom God has opened the windows of Heaven, the fellow need not pray a long prayer. Why don’t you allow God to open heaven’s windows and pour out His blessings on you today?

Memory Verse: I John 3:1 - “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.”
