Text: Psalms 139:1-4

The devil does not produce good things. Instead he specializes in counterfeiting and corrupting good things. Additionally, Satan hates the truth. That is why he is always busy twisting the Scriptures.

Whenever you find the devil quoting the Scriptures, you can be sure he has an evil intention.. The devil would go any length to carry out his intention. Satan hates Scriptural fasting. Sad enough, he has expunged fasting from the agenda of many so-called Christians.

The Bible says: “For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now will tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.” For these people, their bellies are their gods and they have to feed these gods always.

Many people do say they cannot fast, as they are afraid of fasting. When the disciples fell asleep after Jesus told them to be praying He told them to pray against temptation. May you never have a problem that will impose fasting on you. Satan knows that if we feed compulsively the flesh will become flabby and the spirit will become weary.

Those who eat all the time find it difficult to pray ceaselessly. They soon get tired from mere five minutes praying effort! Contrary to what many people believe, fasting strengthens spiritual lives. If you are always eating and drinking, you will end up feeding your flesh at the expense of your spirit. Believers who fast will mount up with wings like the eagle. Such people will have enough spiritual stamina to withstand the enemy’s force.

Try fasting today and your spiritual life will experience a new lease of life.
