Topic:
Trade By Barter
Text: Genesis 1:26-28
Satan
operates a diabolical trade by barter. He offers something in
order to take another thing from those who decide to play games
with him. However, no one can play games with Satan and win. No
matter how alluring what the devil offers looks, he would always
give you an inferior thing in order to take a superior one from
you. What lesson can we learn from our text?
The
first thing to note is that the earth belong to the Lord, according
to Psalms 24:1 “The earths is the Lord’s, and the
fullness thereof, the world, and they that dwell therein.”
The earth is the Lord’s not because somebody gave it to
Him but because He created it. The creation of the earth was His
idea. In Genesis 1:1, the Bible says: “In the beginning
God created the heaven and the earth.” It was after that
He decided to give man domino over it.
This
is recorded in our text. Man made a great mistake by handling
the glory bestowed upon him by God to the devil who for a period
of time, held control over the earth. When God faced Satan in
the wilderness during the temptation, the devil tried to bargain
with the Lord over the earth but God refused him. When man handed
the earth to the devil, you can imagine the feeling of our Lord
Jesus Christ.
The
Bible tells us in Isaiah 63, that Jesus was very angry. He decided
to fight to regain what belonged to Him. Jesus paid the supreme
price in order to restore unto man what was lost through the diabolical
trade by batter. Thank God, we are now redeemed. However, we need
to constantly be on the watch. Satan is still looking for ways
of exchanging our good for his evil. He must never succeed.
Memory Verse: Psalms 24:1 - “The earth is the LORD’s,
and the fullness thereof, the world, and they that dwell therein.”
