Topic:The Prominence of Love
Text: John 13:33-36

Jesus’ primary mission on earth is to destroy the works of the devil. “He that commetteth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil” (I john 3:8). The healing, the Salvation of souls, deliverance and everything that Jesus did was to destroy the works of the devil. One of these works of the devil is hatred.

God is love while Satan is an embodiment of hatred. After completing His assignment, and before He retuned to Heaven, Jesus Christ formed the nucleus of an army here on earth. He gave specific instructions to the army.

We need to understand these commandments because they will determine whether we make it to heaven or not. The first order is summarized for us in John 13:34-35: “A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” This order is repeated in John 15:12,17: “The is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you.” Verse 17 - “These things I command you, that ye love one another.” In heeding this command, you may discover that some members of the army appear unlovable but our duty is to love them, anyway. And the love must be genuine.

Romans 12:9 says: “Let love be without dissimulation.” Wherever there is genuine love, there is no strife. This is the kind of love that exists between God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. We need to give prominence to this kind of love. Do you have the love of God in your heart? Are you able to love the unlovable? Do you manifest love towards members of God’s family, irrespective of their social standing, age or race? If you lack love, whatever you do is empty and worthless.

Memory Verse: I John 3:8 - “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”
