Topic: The Spiritual Armour
Text: Eph. 6:10-13.

Today is the first Sunday of the year and we must consider something very deep. All earnest Bible readers and seasoned prophets are agreed on the fact that we live in the most perilous hour of human history. Serious warfare is raging. It is, therefore, unwise to live without protection. Of course, the only sure protection is spiritual amour.
When we are told to put on the whole Armour of God, one thing becomes clear, instantly. This is the fact that there is God. If there is no God, we cannot be talking of the Armour of God. In Psalm 14:1, the Bible says; “The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good”. Anyone who thinks there is no God is a fool. If He has not made Himself known to you, you have to pay about it. It follows immediately, from our Bible passage for today, that there is” Armour of God”. The Armour is made up of several parts, otherwise we would not be told to put on the whole amour of God. This Armour of God is not built into us simply because we are children of God. The Armour is not built into every child of God. It is external and we have to pick it up in order to be able to put it on. The Armour is available to us. We have to put it on, like a dress. You may however choose not to put on the Armour of God. Deuteronomy 30:19 says: “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live”: Choose whether you will put on the whole Armour and live or refuse it and face the consequence. We have the choice element. Make up your mind about putting on the Armour or not. If you fail to put on the Armour of God, you will be in trouble. We are entering an era in the history of Christiandom where those who do not follow the word of God will pay very high prices. Those of us who are Disciples of Christ have no choice but to put on the whole Armour of God. Certain things will begin to happen very soon that will show clearly that we need the Armour of God more than ever before.
