Topic: Divine Restoration
Text: Psalms 51:1-12

The lives of many people are characterized by the loss of an axe-head the most significant thing in their lives. What is an axe-head? An axe-head signifies nothing else but the Holy Spirit. It is the sharpness of the axe-head that brings a tree down. No matter how strong you are, you cannot fell a tree with a punch. But an axe-head will easily do the job. You should know exactly where you stand.

Have you lost your axe-head? If you have lost it, you can ask God for restoration. David once had it then lost it. And he knew. When he had it, Goliath could not stand before him. He committed adultery and his axe-head fell. His secret was let out and he repented and asked for the restoration of his axe-head, according to our text. When Samson had his axe-head, he could kill a thousand men with his bare hands. When he lost his axe-head, he could do nothing. He went against the philistines thinking he still had his axe-head, but the power of God had left him. It is a dangerous thing to lose your axe-head without knowing you have lost it.

The worst thing, however, is to know that you have lost your axe-head and do nothing about it. In I Samuel 3:16-18, Samuel told Eli that he no longer had favour with God and Eli said that God should do whatever pleased Him. He did not repent. He cared less. King Saul is another example. In I Samuel 15:28-31, he was told that he had disobeyed God and the kingdom had been taken away from him. Instead of repenting, he asked Samuel to worship with him in the presence of the people so as not to be disgraced. He did not care about what God would do.

In place of the Holy Spirit, Saul got an evil Spirit. Some people do not even have any axe-head. Such people have lost the anointing and do not have the power of the Holy Spirit. If you belong in this category, you should ask God for the power of the Holy Spirit. When we ask we are always sure of receiving. When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will receive the anointing that breaks the yoke (Isaiah 10:27). You will even be able to set others free. When you obtain the power of the Holy Spirit you will discover that your enemies will keep on disappearing. Every mountain on your way will move, and you will experience divine restoration.
