Topic:The
Condition
Text: John 15:1-5
There
are conditions for enlistment in God’s army. Nobody will
accept you as a soldier until you have met the conditions outlined
for serving in the army. Whenever someone is invited to join the
army, he is given wonderful offers: cheap food, free clothing
and a lot of fringe benefits. However, he is never told what he
will have to go through when he gets into the barracks.
In
the barracks, he is taken through some rigours and, at the end
of the day; he becomes a well-trained soldier, versed in the handling
of weapons of war. In the same manner, before the Almighty God
would hand His weaponry over to anyone, the fellow must past through
some rigorous discipline. There is order in heaven. The army of
the Almighty God is a strictly disciplined army.
In the army of the Lord, every soldier must be acutely aware of
the fact that the Commander-in-Chief is highly intolerant of parasites.
A parasite is an animal, insect or plant that does not make any
input but receives from its host. Are you a parasite? What have
you contributed to the Kingdom of God? Do you want to remain at
the receiving end? God does not want parasites to populate His
army. To be in His army you must be prepared to contribute your
own quota, or else He will be highly intolerant of you.
In
John 15:1-6, the Bible says: “Every branch in me that beareth
not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit,
he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.” Simply
put, God wants you to make a mark in your generation. He expects
you to be a key player in His Kingdom projects.
Memory Verse: John 16:33 - “These things I have spoken unto
you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have
tribulation; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
